THE WARNING SIGNS: / Know When You Are Lied To Part One

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN LIED TO, AND NOT EVEN KNOWN IT? IF someone says to you " You are my Friend." Are they your friend?

When I attended Chabot College in Hayward, Ca in the Middle to the later part of the 1980's I studied to major in Administration of Justice, my ambition at this time was to pursue a career into Law Enforcement. I took a few Psychology Classes as required for my major. In one of the classes I learned how to interpret body language, and compared that to what they are saying and even how they are breathing at the time. It's a science in itself.

GOING WITH THE FLOW

If your not sure on how a friendship starts, or what the person who you are friends with TRUE intentions are, my suggestion try a simple meeting time for coffee. If the Answer is NO, then there you have it, no need to pursue the friendship any further.

Look at the person's eyes when they are talking to you, are they looking at you when they say it? How is their Posture? Do they stop what they are doing when they talk are they keep going? Do they initiate the hello? These questions and more you have to ask yourself, How committed are you to keep the friendship going if the simplest warning signs are detected. A Friendship is a two way street where both no matter if they are the opposite or the same sex, the communication is open without any doubt or hangups. The most obvious when one party keeps asking for money with out any form of payback. DON'T LEND MONEY OUT UNLESS It's Tangible things that the person needs or it's agreed upon to set a barter. Loaning money out can breakup a friendship and even families. Don't Test the loyalty of the friendship that never works. Sometimes leaving the person alone gives the person time to think how important the friendship really is; however if there is any doubt of you being used, or you are being used to their advantage, simply walk away quietly. Best to remain positive than having a negative feeling.

Friendships takes time to grow like wine fermenting. ALWAYS Pray at the beginning, midday and evening for your friends and for friends you have not met yet. Go with your "Gut instinct" TRUE Friends are always there for you, in good times as well as the bad. Always thank your friend for being there.

FIND OUT FIRST

Check or Find out what kind of a person they are before going further. You don't want to be mixed up with someone who uses or sells drugs, that's no fun. What kind of work do they do? Are they married, single, divorced or in some other committed relationship? With Married friends you may want to consider not get involved or just meet them as a couple. ( DON'T Get pulled into a marriage problem!!) Insist that you
meet as couple,(Christian Moral Values).
In Part Two I will talk about how to help a friend deal with stress.

LIFE LONG FRIENDSHIPS/ WHAT MAKES THEM TIC? PART 2

Since joining "C R" (Celebrate Recovery http://www.celebraterecovery.com/ ) and renewing my faith in Christ through baptism I am finding more doors opened in my life never thought possible. I allowed Jesus Christ my savior the path to the one true God into my life.

Jesus said: "Here I Am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)

I call this the foundation block; allowing God through the Lord Jesus Christ, and the strength from the Holy Spirit to guide me.

In Part One I said that chemistry plays a part in a life long friendship.

The basic fundamentals I look at in a long lasting friendship are the following.

1. Respect for who they are, this includes if they are from a different faith, honor their faith in their God.

2. Respect their privacy -- Just don't come over to their home, CALL AHEAD and see what they are up to first. They may be busy.

3. Respect Boundaries-- No body including myself likes to be pushed around or taken advantage of. REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING HERE. SO LET THEM BE IF THEY WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE.

4. Be a problem solver -- Friends come together to help each other if they need some advice when they feel stuck on what to do.

5. ESTABLISH TRUST!!!-- Do something that develops TRUST!
Find time in busy schedules to do things together that share in common, learn something new that you have not known before.

Trust is very important, Always keep what they say to yourself, (except if they threaten to harm themselves or someone else, Look at the degree level of the threat before you act.)

In my personal life over the years people walk in and out of my life at a rapid pace. There are co-workers, church members, casual contacts that I meet at a local Peet's coffee or Starbucks, and counseling groups, but the one's who e-mail me, call me, text message me out of the blue on a weekend just to say "hi", " how did you do in that courier class?" " have a good weekend!" , "Lets try to meet up for coffee?" These are the ones I call friends, and I CHERISH THESE FRIENDS AND LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH THEIR FRIENDSHIP MEANS TO ME!! It's the "little things" that makes or breaks a friendship. I pray everyday for my friends, the people who I work with, to give thanks to God Himself for keeping them safe at work, on the road, and at their homes. Ask for God's GRACE by keeping the FAITH.

Shalom,
PEACE
Brother In Christ

LIFE LONG FRIENDSHIPS

A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway. -- Fr. Jerome Cummings

Remember, the greatest gift is not found in a store nor under a tree, but in the hearts of true friends. -- Cindy Lew

"Your friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you." -- Elbert Hubbard

"Who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure." -- Jewish saying

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies. -- Aristotle

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.Just walk beside me and be my friend.-- Albert Camus
Have you ever figure out what makes up the chemistry between two people to become a life long friendship?
As I progress through Celebrate Recovery, I am rediscovering my old self. My old self the way I remembered it when I was growing up, before I abused alcohol (See Life Changes/ My Alcohol addiction parts 1 and 2.)
John 15:12-15
12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.
The Ultimate sacrifice is to lay down your life for a friend. How many TRUE friends (people) will go to that extreme? As I do my "soul searching" I find myself in a crossroad. An intersection on what direction do I turn, do I keep the person close, or do I put him/her aside and move on? As I continue my "soul search" I trust my instinct, would that person do the same for me under the same pretense? It's a YES OR NO question, not a debate. Sure I have placed myself in harms way to protect a friend, and yes, there were friends who did the same for me. Is it common interest? Is it common backgrounds? Same beliefs? Perhaps all above.
I am LEARNING TO JUST PLACE MY TRUST IN THE LORD when it comes to friendships. You can't buy friendship, A friendship is earned, and respected. KEEP THE FAITH MY FRIENDS!! GOD BLESS. TIM

OUR NATION IN A CRISIS / FINDING FAITH IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

" Trials and Temptations Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. "
(James 1:2-8)

Our Nation's economy is in a world of hurt right now. The Dow Jones dropped 504 pts on Monday (9/15/08) to 10,917.51, the largest single drop since Wall Street reopened after 9/11 on Sept 17, 2001. HP announces another round of layoffs. Hurricane IKE devastates the Gulf Coast of Texas people out of their homes AND A.I.G. Insurance showing signs of trouble after the Aftermath of IKE.

Where on Earth is this world coming to? Not to mention the Middle East Crisis, The war on terror in Iraq, and in Afghanistan. The Billions of dollars spent and our Nation's Debt keeps climbing. Medical benefits are disappearing, while cost of living keeps going up and up. I don't recall a time in my life where our country has so much trouble, but again my parents were born and raised during the Great Depression in the 1930's. This Country of ours has gone through Two World Wars, The conflict in Korea in the 1950's, and Vietnam during the 60's and 70's, The Riots, the assassination's of our Political Leaders in the 60's. Have you had enough!??

Hard times, good times, the ups and the downs, yes life is hard. Just remember keep your faith with God and our Lord Jesus Christ. We are in a "Storm", A big Financial Hurricane, that we must KEEP THE FAITH TO RIDE IT OUT!!
So, my brothers and sisters in Christ Keep the faith, do what's necessary for you and your families to survive this storm within social norms. Vote this November 2008. Look and read over the parties platforms, and VOTE YOUR CONSCIOUS AND PRAY TO YOUR GOD AND TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST! AMEN!!

Jesus Calms the Storm "Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm."

Matt 8:23-26

2 Timothy 2:11-13
"Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself."

Assist in communications for bicycle rides, runs, and special events. The ones I participate in each year are Mt. Hamilton bicycle classic, The Ohlone 50K and The Skyline 50K runs all in the East Bay. (http://www.abovethefog.com/ http://www.skyline50k.com/ ).

LASTLY, is the annual Amateur Radio Field Day Event. (http://www.k6eag.org/)

Field Day is held on the last weekend of June, and Amateurs around the country participate in this fun event. Field Day is a time to show the public at large about emergency preparedness and emergency communications operating other than A/C Commercial power. Field Day is a awesome way to get to meet people who attend and learn the basic operating practices of amateur radio. These events are sponsored by Radio Clubs, and are held at public places such as a park. The Public is highly encouraged to attend along with your friends and family. I been a ham operator for 18 years (little less than half my life), and I endure this hobby very much, it has open many doors for me. BAPTISM: REBORN INTO A NEW LIFE PART 2

Jeremiah 29:11

" For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. They are the plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

John 3:21

" But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may seen plainly that what he has done through God."

Baptism, as stated in part 1 the old self buried with Christ death on the cross and the new self comes out of the water.

Baptism removes sin from your old self so that God, the Father is the center of your life. A person within you who guides you, protects you, and listens to your concerns.

Evil and sin has no place and cannot control you. You have the choice to do good, to conquer evil. With that said, the past is the past and it does not dictate your life in the present or the future. Since God is in the center of you, He is in control. We have the opportunity to live with him eternally.

ROMANS 2:7

" To those who by persistence in doing good, seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life."

MICAH 6:8

" HE has shown you O Man what is good and what does the Lord require of you? To act Justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God."

Practice your faith everyday. Allow God to be in control and the center in every kind of relationship - Coworker, a friend, your spouse (especially) and/or significant other. No mater who or what TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.

ROMANS 12:17-19

"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"says the Lord."

Live in Harmony

God Bless

Tim

BAPTISM: REBORN INTO A NEW LIFE. PART 1

Once again The CAL BEARS WON!! Congrats to the CAL BEAR Team! (66-3?) WOW!! Game was not Televised, Thank You KGO 810 on the AM Dial for carrying the game. 50k Watt Transmitter(Later lesson on Signal propagation.)

(Disclaimer, Do to so much excitement of being Baptized, I left my camera in my car. Hopefully I can obtain a photo from the Youth Pastor to show off in my next entry.)

Romans 6:1-9

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him."

YES, I was baptized last Sunday September 7th, 2008 at Cull Canyon Park. I was the last one in the group from Creekside Church. Thank You Pastor John! The symbolic symbol of baptism is doing away of your old self and the new self coming out of the water. The old self with all the hurts, hang ups, and habits done away with, along with the sins. Accepting Jesus Christ as LORD and SAVIOR allows that Sin to be taken away by Christ's Crucifixion. ALL the Troubles, hang -ups, and habits have been erased (FORGIVEN) and a New Life has begun. A MAJOR STEP IN THE RECOVERY PROCESS!!! Thank to my accountability Partner Rick for being there along with the rest of the Creekside members ('Family'). THIS BAPTISM TOOK PLACE ON DAY 75 OF MY SOBRIETY. Remember Just the Facts, Not the Feelings.

I personally want to thank Associate Pastor Bob, for encouraging me to enroll into Celebrate Recovery, and keeping me focused.

REMEMBER IT'S NEVER TOO LATE. ALWAYS LOOK TOWARD GOD FOR HELP. "ASK,AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE." Matt 7

God Bless

OVER COMING DEPRESSION

Over coming depression by placing the TRUST IN THE LORD. 2 Corinthians 10:12-13 "We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you."

One of the ways to Over come depression is by NOT comparing ourselves to another.

Live the Life that God wants you too, not by something your not. God knows we are not perfect and we will make mistakes from time to time, this is called being human.

Another cause for depression is acting on feelings not by the facts, this is what I fall into- the Feelings, not the Facts. Avoid personal Feelings, and Just look at the facts nothing else. John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

God Bless,

Tim

BOOK REVIEW / LIFE'S HEALING CHOICES: Freedom from your hurts, hang-ups and habbits.

Labor Day weekend is now over. The CAL Bears won their Season opener! I invited my friend Diane to Monterey, CA for her Birthday and spent most of the day at the Aquarium. The weather was great, not too hot. On Labor Day I finished reading "Life's Healing Choices: Freedom from your hurts hang-ups and habits."

Written by Pastor John Baker (pastor at Saddleback Church in Southern California).

It empathises on the eight principals, based on the Beatitudes Found in Matthew 5.

Principal one: Realize I am Not God, I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.

" Blessed are the poor in spirit." Matt 5:3

Principal Two: Earnestly believe that God exist, that I matter to him and he has the power to help me recover.

"Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted ." Matt 5:4

Principal Three: Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control.

"Blessed are the meek." Matt 5:5

Principal Four: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself and God And to someone I trust.

"Blessed are the pure in heart ." Matt 5:8

Principal Five: Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask him to remove my character defects.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." Matt 5:6

Principal Six: Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I've done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.

"Blessed are the merciful." Matt 5:7

"Blessed are the peacemakers." Matt 5: 9

Principal Seven: Reserve a Daily Time with God for self examination, bible reading and prayer in order to know God and His Will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Principal Eight: Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others both by example and my words.

Have you ever asked yourself Why people find themselves in certain predicaments?
Why you find people in hopeless situations? Why the divorce rate in this country is so high? ( Me included). People in general don't want to face their problems, rather they pretend it's not there. I lived a Lie for over 10 years, before I came to grips of reality, and The resentments I held on to for so long. I decided to do something about it.

Life's Healing Choices opens doors to ways never thought possible. It deals with all issues, no matter what the issue is or how complicated your situation is. IF you are hurting from a past relationship, a divorce such as myself, struggling with finances, been a victim of a serious crime like abuse, or your current marriage is in trouble and looking for help. This is the book for you, don't hesitate to order your copy now. I recommend this book, don't delay.
